Clean the appliance and door with a damp cloth but only when the unit is cool. Never use an abrasive cleaner. Glass cleaner, which is designed specifically for either gas or wood, is available for purchase. The glass should be cleaned when the glass starts to look cloudy. Note: Never operate a gas appliance without the glass properly secured in place.
The appliance and venting system must be inspected before use and at least annually, by a qualified field service person, to ensure that the flow of combustion and ventilation air is not obstructed. Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control which has been under water.
Air flow is the most important factor in moving heat from one area to another. Some units are equipped with a blower. Others allow for gravity vent kits to be added at the time of installation. Strategically placed pedestal or table fans as well as ceiling and furnace fans will also help with heat distribution. Additionally, the physical placement of the unit in the room is an important consideration.
